The above illustration was
done by Fiona Andreanelli for the inner sleeve "Yellow Submarine
Songtrack." Not many films have remained as classics over the years, but
I've felt that "Yellow Submarine" now some 30 years old and up is very
comparable to another classic that stood the test of time: "The Wizard of
Oz". As you know, the "Wizard of Oz" predates the Beatles "Yellow
Submarine" -- both films are timeless and contain a magical charm all of
their own! - John Whelan, Researcher for the Ottawa Beatles

The following is a listing of all compositions by The
Beatles
LEGEND: The song is indicated along with which album it first
appeared on, followed by its release date in the United States. The final date
indicates when the session for the recording commenced. This does not include
alternate mixes, takes and editing bits. For a complete breakdown on the
alternate takes, mixes and editing and fine details for all tracks, I recommend
Mark Lewisohn's "Recording Sessions."

The above photo is taken from the album "Class of 55" released on Mercury
Records in 1986. It is the only album ever recorded with four of the major Sun
Records artists recording together: (Left photo, 1986) Jerry Lee Lewis
who played at the Toronto Varisty Stadium in 1969 which included the concert
performance from John Lennon and Yoko Ono. (Center photo, 1986) Roy
Orbison who played in George Harrison's Travelling Wilbury's. (Right photo,
1986) Carl Perkins, a great rock-a-billy composer, found the Beatles doing
cover versions of his songs such as "Honey Don't" and "Matchbox" to name a few
later teamed up with Paul McCartney on a track called "Get It" from his "Tug of
War" album. Johnny Cash appeared on the album but the photo is absent since he
did not make any significant impact on the Beatles music. These 1950s
rock'n'roll artists are some of the top major acts that had an influence on the
Beatles music in those early years of the groups musical growth and maturity.
